mini-lockerBio-Kine version history

Note:
If you have some problems with software download (especially with IE browser), please download (save) the software first, then open it and launch it directly from the download folder.
This version requires Windows2000, WindowsXP, Windows Vista , Windows 7 (32 or 64 bits), Windows 8 (32 or 64 bits) or Window 10 (32 or 64 bits) and the NI-DAQmx drivers supplied with either the PCI-6052E or the PCI-6221 or PCIe-6321 from NI.

AN#27 – Getting the most from a 50 μl stock of sample using the μSFM for refolding experiments

How many mixers in a µSFM?

µSFM is a two syringes stopped-flow system so it has one mixer. It can only address single mixing application.

Can I upgrade µSFM for double/triple mixing application?

No, the mechanical chassis was designed so only 2 syringes can be connected. If you need double or triple mixing modularity you would need to consider the SFM-2000/3000/4000.

I already have a Bio-Logic optical bench, is the µSFM compatible?

Yes, the observation head is similar to all our SFM so you can connect your MOS system and benefit from micro-volumes capabilities of the µSFM

What is the priming volume?

Priming volume is 24 µl

What is the minimum volume per shot?

The minimum volume per shot depends on the mixing ratio chosen. For example doing a refolding experiments you can use only 3 µl of your precious protein at each shot! Doing 1:1 mixing ratio you will need 10-12µl per shot

I am doing refolding/unfolding experiments, can I use the µSFM and how much sample is needed?

Yes, the µSFM is suitable for such application when reaction are fast and finished after 5 or 6 seconds. Mixing ratio can be varied freely from 1:1 to 1:9 which is ideal for such application. With a 50 µl stock you can collect 9 shots doing a 1:9 mixing ration and only using 3µl of sample at each shot.

What is the temperature range of µSFM ?

The standard temperature range is 0 to 50° and cannot be extended.

Is the µSFM compatible with organic solvents ?

Yes, all o-rings in contact with the solution are made of Kalrez so organic solvents can be used. An O-ring kit is available as a spare.
